The Giving Circle Ministry is one of the ways the Sheridan Patterson Center (SPC) actualizes our mission, “to make sure all that we do is to benefit others, that we may benefit too, and to make a solid contribution to the lives of others, making a contribution to our own lives as well.”  SPC believes that helping others can change lives.  Giving back and helping others is an important part of who we are.  SPC participates in International Relief Efforts and Domestic Volunteer Programs. The Giving Circle Ministry was inspired by the Samaritan’s Purse. We have two (2) projects that encompass our Giving Circle Ministry.

The GREEN Bag Project, (formerly known as the Shoebox Ministry) is our international ministry project started in 2006. At that time, SPC adopted the Village of Abira in Kumasi, Ghana. Annually, we ship shoeboxes filled with school supplies, small toys and hygiene products, view the “Shoebox Ministry” video, click on The Giving Circle link, and follow to Shoebox Ministry.  In 2008, SPC joined the “greening” efforts to make our environment more environmentally safe and eco friendly.  This year as part of our “greening efforts” we renamed the “Shoebox Ministry” to the GREEN Bag, releasing the shoeboxes and replacing them with eco-friendly, biodegradable bags.  Our contents for the GREEN Bags items remain the same as the shoeboxes. Since 2006, SPC has been excepting donations from other organizations, friends of the agency, foster parents, and staff for this project.  Last year we sent more than 200 shoeboxes to the Village of Abira, to read more click on The Giving Circle and follow to The Green Bag.

The Employee Vision Project is an opportunity for the SPC to support the vision of our employees in their individual attempts to give back to their communities, once again actualizing the mission and vision of the organization.  SPC’s employees know the benefits of helping others.  Each year SPC’s employees select an organization to help in our local area.  Though each employee selects his or her own vision to actualize for the year, it is supported as a collective effort and all staff volunteers as a team to help bring the respective employee’s vision to fruition.
